U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals 2011
University Hospitals Nationally Ranked in 11 Specialties
University Hospitals has again been distinguished by the U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of the country’s best hospitals.
UH is ranked in 11 medical specialties, four more than in 2010, and also joins a group of only 140 hospitals nationwide to be named in the magazine’s Best Hospitals category.
University Hospitals Case Medical Center is nationally ranked in:
Five of these UH specialties -- Ear, Nose & Throat, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Gynecology and Pulmonology -- have moved up in the rankings from last year.
Additionally, UH Case Medical Center was ranked in a new category for the best hospitals in metro areas, and was recognized for its high performance in Cardiology and Heart Surgery. University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center also made the best regional hospitals list for Gastroenterology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics and Pulmonology.
University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital also appeared in the U.S. News best children’s hospitals rankings and was nationally recognized in several specialties, including being ranked fourth in the nation for neonatology.
The rankings are based on a combination of scores including reputation, mortality rate, patient safety, and other care-related factors such as nursing and patient services. Only large teaching hospitals with complex medical technology are eligible for consideration.
