UH CEO Gives Advice to 2008 Graduates

Thomas Zenty III, CEO of University Hospitals, was included in a Plain Dealer article Saturday on advice from top area executives for this year’s graduates. Mr. Zenty said: Keep in mind that you may have as many as 15 jobs during your career, so "be prepared to take calculated and intelligent risks," he advised. "Find an organization that has a strong mission statement and values that resonate with your beliefs. Work diligently and be a team player. Be prepared to be the best that you can be." Zenty still seeks the advice of a woman in her 90s whom he met and admired early in his career. "Always find a mentor," he said, "someone whom you have a tremendous amount of pride in and respect for." For full text of the article, click here.

MySecureCare EMR Available at UHCMC this Week

Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and MacDonald Women’s Hospital will “go live” with the Patient Lists and Results Management piece of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) on June 10. This piece of the MySecureCare project moves patients’ paper-based medical files to a new electronic format, transforming the way we deliver care.

To prepare, the technical team has been installing MySecureCare icons on workstations throughout Rainbow and Mac this week, and has begun testing computer hardware and devices in all of the clinical areas.

To help you learn about the new system and try it outside of the patient care setting, the EMR team will host an open house on Thursday, June 19, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Atrium.

UH Bedford Medical Center went live with this first piece of the MySecureCare project on May 28 and UHCMC Med/Surg will go-live on June 24. UHCMC inpatient clinical and ancillary staff who have not completed EMR Emergency Department Display Board classroom training should complete training before each area’s go-live date. Most staff should sign up for training sessions via the Learning Management System (LMS), while physicians can access an updated version of computer-based training beginning later this week. Completing training will provide all users with access to the system, and increase their comfort level with the technology before each go-live date.

Different aspects of MySecureCare will be activated systematically over the next two years with training recommended at each phase of the project. If you have questions, visit the MySecureCare intranet site at http://intranet.uhhs.com/MySecureCare/.

Questions? Send an e-mail to MySecureCare@UHhospitals.org or leave a voicemail at (216) 767-8877.
