Don’t Miss Your Chance to Speak Up!
University Hospitals’ systemwide employee communications survey has elicited a good response so far, and we thank those who have already responded. But we’d love to hear from more employees.
This Friday is the last day to complete the survey. We encourage all employees to take the opportunity to participate. Take a moment to help shape the future of employee communications at UH.
The employee communications survey is available both online and on paper. Click here to be directed to the online version of the survey. Please complete the survey that corresponds with the site where you work most. Management Services Center employees should complete the survey titled MSC. Thank you in advance for taking time to help improve communications at UH.

Save a Life: Donate Blood
University Hospitals partners with Lifeshare and the American Red Cross to host blood drives year-round throughout the UH system. UH employees are encouraged to give blood during the year. You could help save a life! Blood drives or campaigns occur at or near UH entities throughout the year. Click here to view the UH blood drive schedule for the remainder of this year.
In June, UH and the Red Cross have partnered to host a “Gas Giveaway” campaign. Each donor will be entered into a drawing for “Free Gas for a Year,” sponsored by the Red Cross. UH blood donors will be entered to win one of four $125 Speedway gas cards as well.
UH employees now can schedule an appointment online for drives sponsored by the Red Cross. To make an appointment online, visit www.givelife.org. Then search for a blood drive by entering the University Hospitals sponsor code, “UH.” This will bring up any blood drives that meet the search criteria. After selecting a drive you would like to attend, a list of available appointments will appear. First-time users will be asked to create a profile. Donors will be sent an e-mail confirmation after an appointment is made. For more information, or to schedule an appointment by phone, contact Vanessa Griffin at (216) 844-1680.

Compliance & Ethics Week
This week is National Corporate Compliance & Ethics Week. Throughout the week, we will present a new question to ponder. The answer, which may come as a big surprise, can be found by clicking on "Read More." Here is today’s scenario:
Mrs. Jones’ husband drove all the way to Mountain Peak Hospital’s Medical Records Department and requested a copy of Mrs. Jones’ records. Should Mountain Peak release the records to the patient’s husband?
A) As long as the patient’s husband signs the medical records release as “next of kin,” Mountain Peak may release the records.
B) If the patient’s husband can prove his marital status, Mountain Peak may release the records.
C) Mountain Peak is not legally permitted to release the patient’s medical records under these circumstances.
As a reminder, University Hospitals’ employees have an individual responsibility to report any activities or situations that appear to violate applicable laws, the Code of Conduct or UH policies. The UH Compliance Hotline number is (800) 227-6934.
