Diversity Spotlight – Minority Faculty and Administrative Development Awards

At University Hospitals, we are focused on maintaining a workforce of health care professionals who reflect our diverse patient population. To achieve this goal, we have created several minority faculty and administrative development initiatives, including:

·        The UH Minority Faculty Development Award – This program helps eradicate the barriers to retention and development of underrepresented ethnic minority faculty. It is open to current junior faculty members with less than three years on the full-time faculty at UH. Candidates are nominated by their clinical director and selected by a committee of UH leaders.

·        The Henry L. Meyer III KeyBank Faculty Fellows Program – Funded by the Key Foundation, this program helps transition postgraduate residents or fellows to full-time UH faculty positions. Candidates are nominated by their clinical director and selected by a committee of UH leaders.

·        The Henry L. Meyer III KeyBank Administrative Fellows Program – This one-year rotation in health care administration is also funded by the Key Foundation and helps build a foundation for successful careers in medical administration and management. The fellow spends six months in an observational learning environment across seven hospitals and more than a dozen administrative departments. He or she also spends six months assigned to an administrative department of special interest, completing a project aimed at eliminating health care disparities among the minority community.
