University Hospitals to train Max Hayes High School graduates

University Hospitals will provide the funding to train up to 60 Cleveland high school graduates for jobs related to UH's Vision 2010, our $1.2 billion strategic plan. The training will be provided by the Union Construction Industry Partnership-Apprenticeship Skills Achievement Program, as part of UH’s project labor agreement with the Cleveland Building and Construction Trades Council. The purpose of the program is three fold: to develop a pre-apprenticeship training program for high school students, to allow students to gain experience through apprenticeship programs and the union construction industry, and secure placement for graduates in apprenticeship programs which will provide them a pathway for a career in the construction industry.

UHCMC and Case Western Reserve University Awarded $2.4 Million Grant to Study Corneal Infections Associated with Contact Lens Use

Researchers from UHCMC and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine have been awarded a $2.4 million grant over five years from the National Eye Institute (NEI) to study corneal infection (keratitis) brought on by disease-causing fungi that can be lurking on contact lenses, in the air, in the dirt, or even on common household surfaces.

Celebrate National Poison Prevention Week at the Children’s Museum of Cleveland

Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital is partnering with the Cleveland Children’s Museum to celebrate National Poison Prevention Week with a fun day of outreach and education for parents and their children on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Rainbow Injury Prevention Center staff will lead the activities for children. The games and activities at the museum will all stress the message that children should always check with an adult before eating or drinking anything they find—no matter how good it looks. Children will also have the chance to win prizes.

Air Handler Shutdown in Mather Pavilion

Facilities Engineering will shut down the air handler (AHU-3) from 2:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. today. The air handler provides service in Mather Pavilion to:

  • Mather Pharmacy
  • Central Supply Chain
  • Kitchen
  • Sleep rooms located in the B200 corridor

These areas will not have air conditioning during the shutdown. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause however, this action is necessary to allow for preventative maintenance measures.
