Bond Rating Update

Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has released a very favorable assessment of UHs financial and operating performance by affirming our bond rating of A with a stable outlook.

UH achieved these results while growing community benefit to $210 million in 2008; maintaining commitment to the Vision 2010 expansion program in a challenging economy; enhancing investment in physicians and clinical systemwide institutes; maintaining and improving employee benefit packages; and expanding operations in Northeast Ohio. Standard & Poor's conducts a thorough review of UH operations, strategies and financial performance to provide an assessment of UHs overall financial health which leads to this bond rating.

Overall, Standard & Poor’s is impressed with UHs growth and has expressed confidence in UHs ability to continue achieving our operational goals. Similarly, Moody’s Investors Service announced last month that it was maintaining our current bond rating of A2 with a stable outlook.

Thank you for all that you do to deliver the highest-quality care and create a unique patient experience for patients so that they choose UH.
