ED Triage Note Enhancements and Clinical Summary Tab Feature Coming Soon

New features in the ED Triage Note and a Clinical Summary Tab will be activated Wednesday, Sept. 30. Some examples of the ED Triage Note enhancements include:

         The ability to select more nursing homes and squads

         A respiratory risk and visual acuity screen

         Significant indicators, such as category, chief complaint cough screen and acuity level

         Immunization and tetanus questions

         An incomplete registration alert

         Additional chief complaints, triage interventions and triage assessment options

The Department of Family and Child Life Services invites interested UH departments to help fill Halloween treat bags for UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital patients Thursday, Oct. 29 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Rainbow Community Room. Lisa’s Legacy Run/Walk to Help Cure Cancer

UH Ireland Cancer Center presents the inaugural Lisa’s Legacy 5K run/walk Sunday, Oct. 18, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Museum of Natural History. Funds raised from the run/walk will help advance UH Ireland Cancer Center’s mission: to cure cancer.

Ohio’s New Booster Seat Law Goes Into Effect Oct. 7

The new law requires booster seats for children 8 years of age and younger, unless they have reached 4' 9" in height. Because seat belts do not fit well on small bodies, booster seats help lap and shoulder belts fit properly, protecting a child in the event of a crash. For more information call the Rainbow Injury Prevention Center at 216-983-1110.

Volunteers Needed for Boo at the Zoo

UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital is taking part in the annual Boo at the Zoo event Oct. 15-18 and 22-25. Rainbow’s booth will include games and fun activities to help teach kids about being safe on Halloween and all year-round. Volunteers are needed from 5-9:30 p.m. all nights to help run the different stations and teach kids about Halloween safety. All volunteers get in free and can explore the zoo before or after their shift. If you are interested in volunteering, call 216-983-1110.

Hearing Aid Troubleshooting Online Training

A brief online training is now available on the LMS for all UH Case Medical Center employees who interact with patients who use hearing aids. Staff will learn basic troubleshooting to ensure that hearing impaired patients and their families can effectively communicate with their health care providers. This training is located under Clinical/Patient Care and Ancilliary Services on the LMS.

The 26th annual Rainbow Golf Classic, held on August 31 at Kirtland Country Club, raised approximately $150,000 to support UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.

Diamond Celebration a success

The 4th annual Diamond Celebration Luncheon, honoring members of the UH Diamond Legacy Society and Diamond Advisory Group, was held on Sept. 10. William E. Karnatz Sr., Esq., a longtime UH Director, charter member of the original Estate Advisory Council, and benefactor, was honored with the Distinguished Advisor Award.  Helene and Malcolm Zucker were honored with the Distinguished Diamond Award.

Miracles Happen

The first west side “Miracles Happen” fundraiser drew a sell-out crowd of 400 guests and raised $150,000 for advanced breast cancer research at University Hospitals Ireland Cancer Center. The event was held on September 11 and hosted by Westlake residents Sean and Becky Hennessy and Jackie and Bill Greuloch.  Proceeds will benefit the UH Ireland Cancer Center’s Diana Hyland Miracle Fund for individuals facing recurrent breast cancer.
