Open House: Accelerated BSN Program for UH Employees

University Hospitals and Kent State University College of Nursing are offering an Accelerated BSN program for UH employees who have already earned baccalaureate or advanced degrees in other disciplines. This 15-month fast-paced curriculum is ideal for adult learners and tuition assistance is available for UH employees. All classes and clinicals are on weekends at UH Case Medical Center, accommodating full-time work schedules.

UH Doctor Appeared on Good Morning America Last Friday

Bahman Guyuron, MD, UH Case Medical Center’s Chairman of Plastic Surgery, was interviewed on Good Morning America and several other national media outlets last week about a new study in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery®, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, that proves forehead lifts can erase migraine headaches. According to Dr. Guyuron, in this study, we’ve shown that surgical treatment of migraine headaches is safe, effective, and that this reasonably short operation can have a colossal impact on the patients’ quality of life—all while eliminating signs of aging for some patients, too.”

University Hospitals Neurological Institute Presents “Neurocritical Care 2009: All Together Now”

Physicians, nurses and allied health professionals are encouraged to attend this three-day course on adult and pediatric neurocritical care, featuring the 7th annual Cleveland Neurocritical Care and Stroke Conference Thursday, Sept. 24 and Friday, Sept. 25. Day three is participant’s choice of either the 3rd annual Vascular Neurology Board Review Course; Case Western Reserve University Critical Care Bioinformatics Workshop; or the Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound Workshop Saturday, Sept. 26. This course brings together an international group of experts to review the latest information in neurocritical care and cerebrovascular disease. 3rd Annual Advanced Practicum for Health Care Professionals Providing Immunoglobulin Therapy: IVIG and SCIG

Consider attending the 3rd annual Advanced Practicum for Health Care Professionals Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cleveland. The course includes didactic lectures regarding major diseases treated with IgG products; safety and pharmacological considerations for administration; question and answer sessions; and hands-on workshops including placing subcutaneous needles and self-infusing, use of specialized infusion pumps and tubing sets for subcutaneous IgG infusions, calculating regimens and infusion rates for subcutaneous and intravenous IgG infusions, and advanced techniques for  monitoring and managing adverse events during IV and subcutaneous infusion.
