A new technology course is now available in the Learning Management System (LMS). This course, UH Technology Overview, is designed for new UH employees of all job descriptions and responsibilities.

This course will provide hands-on training for UH employees on several applications, including:

• PC skills
• UH intranet navigation
• Employee Direct Access (EDA)
• Learning Management System (LMS)
• The corporate directory
• Microsoft Outlook

The Employee Assistance Program will sponsor a brown bag tomorrow, noon – 1 p.m. in Conference Room 3108 Lakeside, Department of Medicine. The presenter of the program, “Caring for the Caregiver,” will be Karen Fink, LMT, RN. The program will describe three chemical and neurological responses of the body to increased stress, explain three physical consequences of unrelieved long-term stress, compare and contrast benefits and application of activities useful in reducing stress and choose one stress-relieving modality for personal use in daily life. In typography, leading (pronounced /ˈlɛdɪŋ/, rhymes with heading) refers to the amount of added vertical spacing between lines of type. In consumer-oriented word processing software, this concept is usually referred to as "line spacing". Leading may sometimes be confused with tracking, which refers to the horizontal spacing between letters or characters.

The word comes from lead strips that were put between set lines. When type was set by hand in printing presses, slugs or strips of lead (reglets) of appropriate thicknesses were inserted between lines of type to add vertical space, to fill available space on the page.

Text set "solid" (no leading) appears cramped, with ascenders almost touching descenders from the previous line. The lack of white space between lines makes it difficult for the eye to track from one line to the next, and hampers readability.
