Senior Superstars Crowns Winner

Congratulations to Gordon Fawcett of the Eastlake Senior Center, who was crowned winner of the Senior Superstars singing contest last Saturday at UH Extended Care Campus. Mr. Fawcett wowed the audience with his rendition of “The Impossible Dream” from the musical “Man of La Mancha.” Deforia Lane, MT, BC, PhD, Director of Music Therapy at University Hospitals Ireland Cancer Center, was a judge for the contest. Thanks to all who participated and volunteered to make the “Senior Superstars” a success.

Gift fit for child patients: Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital at UHCMC will create a physical fitness program for children with cancer, thanks to a $1 million donation from Cleveland philanthropist Iris S. Wolstein.

Heart pump implanted: Donald Green, a patient at UHCMC who was featured in yesterday’s Plain Dealer, is recovering after a successful surgery. The operation was the first for UH using a new-generation heart pump made by Jarvik Heart Inc.

Mileage Reimbursement Rate to Increase

As of last Tuesday, the rate that UH will reimburse employees for mileage has increase to 58.5 cents per mile in accordance with updated IRS guidelines. This change will be automatically calculated in iExpense when you enter mileage that is driven on or after July 1 for reimbursement.

Patient Don Reis, who was able to find advanced care close to home at UH Geauga Medical Center, will be featured on this week’s edition of “The Health Difference.” Tune in to Channel 3 News tonight at 11 p.m. and Sunday morning at 9 a.m. to see how UH doctors make the Difference.

As part of the 2008 UH advertising campaign, we are introducing “The Health Difference,” which will run four times a month on Channel 3 News on Thursday nights 11 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. “The Health Difference” will feature two-minute UH patient story segments and will highlight all the wonderful work that UH doctors, nurses and staff accomplish every day.

All Outlook E-mail Users: E-mail Auto Delete Attendant

As a reminder, the E-mail Record Retention program is under way. To assist you with determining which items will be auto-deleted, an Auto Delete Attendant e-mail will be generated weekly (every Saturday) for all UH employee accounts and displayed in the user’s Outlook inbox. The Auto Delete Attendant e-mail will list the number of e-mail items (messages, meeting notices, voice mail recordings, read receipts, etc.) by folder that are selected for deletion.

MySecureCare EMR Updates: Over 2,600 clinicians have logged in!

MySecureCare EMR Installation and Instructions for Geauga Medical Center:

The MySecureCare Electronic Medical Record (EMR) team is continuing to install the MySecureCare icon on computer workstations in all inpatient treatment areas going live with the Patient Lists and Results Management phase of MySecureCare. The team is focusing on UH Geauga Medical Center (UHGMC) computers, going live with this functionality on July 8.

To complete installation, all UHGMC computers must remain turned on at all times. When you leave work, please secure your desktop and leave your computer on. If you take your computer home, log into the network via VPN and remain connected through the night.

UH Richmond Medical Center, going live on July 15, will begin receiving the MySecureCare icon on all workstations the evening of July 7.
