This week is National Heart Failure Awareness Week. The Heart & Vascular Institute will have a table in the Atrium during this week with information about heart failure, a chronic disease that affects millions of people of all ages. Featured will be information on the symptoms and treatment of heart failure and how to maintain a heart healthy diet. Nursing staff from the Heart & Vascular Institute and a registered dietician will be available 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. to answer your questions.

University Hospitals is investing $12.1 million to relocate Case Medical Center’s inpatient psychiatric services to Richmond Medical Center and build new inpatient acute care facilities for Richmond’s patients, employees and physicians. CMC will continue to operate the psychiatric division and Richmond will provide ancillary and support services. CMC Psychiatry will occupy the entire third floor and will operate a 23-bed Adult Unit, an 18-bed Gero Unit, and a 6-bed ECT Unit. This stage is slated to be completed in the fourth quarter.

University Hospitals’ Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital is featured in the February 18th issue of People magazine, hitting newsstands this weekend. The story of Teeba Fadhill, a 6 year-old girl who suffered burns to the face and hands following a car bomb in Iraq, will be shared in a prominent feature article. Dr. Arun Gosain, chief of pediatric plastic surgery at Rainbow, was interviewed and photographed for the piece.

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) awarded Education Recognition to the Diabetes Self-management Program at six University Hospitals Medical Practices sites. The six sites are located at UH Chagrin Highlands Health Center, UH Euclid Health Center, UH Landerbrook Health Center, UH Madison Clinic, UH Westlake Health Center and Glenridge Office Park in North Royalton.
