MySecureCare EMR Updates

EMR Installation and Instructions. The MySecureCare Electronic Medical Record (EMR) team is installing the MySecureCare icon on desktops in UHCMC Med/Surg locations and other inpatient treatment areas over the next two weeks.
To complete installation, all UHCMC computers must remain turned on through June 25. When you leave work, please secure your desktop and leave your computer on. If you take your computer home, log into the network via VPN and remain connected through the night.
If you find that a UHCMC computer is still in need of the MySecureCare icon after June 25, please call the MySecureCare Command Center at (216) 286-5050. Also, if you would like MySecureCare loaded to your UH-issued laptop, please call the MySecureCare Command Center to log your request. Currently, the team is focusing on Med/Surg and other inpatient treatment locations, and will complete this process at other UHCMC areas and remote sites such as Ambulatory Surgery Centers by the end of July.
Note that the MySecureCare Practice green icon, used to access the training practice area, is not a part of this “push.” It will be made available at a future date.
UH Geauga Medical Center staff will receive the MySecureCare icon on their desktops next, and will be notified shortly with exact dates.

Passport to Service Excellence Contest
At University Hospitals each department has its own customs, language and even style of dress. It may seem like other departments are "foreign lands" that we have not yet visited. However, we are dependent on each other to meet the needs of the patients and families that come to UH for care. It’s critical that we learn more about each other! The goal is to identify three different departments that you work closely with each day and get to know them better. Simply answer the questions on the Passport and send to Paula.Shenal@UHhospitals.org by July 1 to be entered into the giveaway. Click here to view specific rules and to download a copy of the Passport to Service Excellence flyer. Five lucky “travelers” will be awarded $100 gas cards!

Construction Update
Below are several updates regarding Vision 2010 construction at UH Case Medical Center and Euclid Corridor construction. Please allow for increased travel time to and from UHCMC.
Adelbert Road
Effective today, southbound Adelbert Road will be closed to large trucks and busses. These vehicles will be detoured to Cornell Road while crews install the new concrete crosswalk. Adelbert Road southbound will reopen to large vehicles at 7 a.m. tomorrow.
Cornell Road
Beginning June 30, through 2010, the section of Cornell Road closest to Euclid Avenue will be limited to two lanes due to construction.
Euclid Corridor
Effective on Wednesday, East 101st Street at Euclid Avenue will be permanently closed to through traffic. This closure is part of the final stages of the Euclid Corridor Project. This closure will no longer give eastbound Euclid Avenue traffic access to East 101st street.
Beginning July 2, Euclid Avenue through traffic between E. 105th and E. 107th will be closed. Eastbound traffic will need to use Chester Avenue or Carnegie Avenue as an alternative route. This section will reopen in six weeks.
Beginning July 7, traffic on Euclid Avenue will be shifted to the southern lanes for at least six weeks. Construction on Euclid Avenue should be completed by November.
Effective July 9, the traffic lanes between the intersections of E. 107th Street and Mayfield Road will be shifted to the south side. One lane traffic will be maintained in each direction.

UH Employees go Skydiving
UH health care professionals show team spirit in and out of the hospital. The same spirit that makes doctors, nurses and staff of the UH Neuroscience Intensive Care gel into a cohesive team also was evident when several of them decided to skydive together yesterday. For most of them it was their first jump. A Plain Dealer reporter and photographer covered the thrills, and their story appears in today’s newspaper.
The story showcases how nurse Shari Dutton “talked eight of the doctors and nurses where she works into taking a plunge Sunday - off a plane, two miles up. ...Dutton, a veteran of 950 jumps, thought skydiving would be a diversion for her co-workers. Every day the team treats patients with brain tumors, strokes and aneurysms at the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit of University Hospitals Case Medical Center,” the story says. Dr. Richard Jung from the unit described his experience as sublime. "You know that checklist of all the things you want to do in your life? I just checked one off." The unit also will have a more earthbound event to promote team spirit with a family picnic in July. A link to the Plain Dealer story is here:
