January 19, 2009: Revised Policy “Other Vulnerable Populations”

The IRB policy “Other Vulnerable Populations”, which focuses on additional safeguards for subjects who are likely to be vulnerable to coercion or undue influence such as house staff/students, persons who do not speak English, and illiterate persons, has been revised to provide more information to the research community regarding the IRB’s expectations for inclusion and exclusion of these individuals.

Please note that separate IRB policies exist which discuss the inclusion of minors, pregnant women/neonates, decisionally impaired populations and prisoners.
