Intro: This research study is designed to compare two treatments for inidividuals who have a Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO; an opening in the heart) and who had a recent stroke.
Condition:  
Description: This research study is designed to compare two treatments for inidividuals who have a Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO; an opening in the heart) and who had a recent stroke. One option is to close the PFO using the AMPLATZER PFO Occluder, which is a device that helps to close the PFO using a minimally invasive procedure. The other option is to treat with medication alone, which is the current standard of care.
Criteria: Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 60 years with a PFO, and must have had a stroke within the last 90 days of enrollment.
