Intracranial pressure monitoring
– provides continuous information about pressures within the brain
Brain tissue oxygenation monitoring
–
measures the amount of oxygen that is being delivered to brain tissue
Cerebral blood flow monitoring -
measures the amount of blood flow going to the brain
Transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasonography
– has a variety of uses including, detecting blocked arteries in the brain, intraoperative monitoring, and measurement of dynamic cerebrovascular responses
Continuous video EEG monitoring
–
a specialized form of EEG testing that allows physicians to learn more about seizures by viewing them directly
CT angiography
–
a CT scan that uses intravenous contrast to show all the blood vessels inside the brain
CT perfusion
– to measure blood flow in the brain with a CT scanner
MRI diffusion imaging
– shows area of brain tissue that is damaged
MRI perfusion imaging
– shows blood flow and can estimate weather damaged tissue is still salvageable with therapy
Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
–
a form of brain imaging that shows brain metabolism
