The Chairman's Message:
The physicians and staff at University Hospitals Urology Institute proudly welcome you.
This is a time of many exciting developments within our organization. The aging of the Baby Boom population and the advancements in medical innovation are bringing about new opportunities to grow and evolve our services for the benefit of the community.
That is why we have a new model for the delivery of urology services – one that promotes a multidisciplinary approach to patient-centered care, and is capable of meeting the demands generated by a growing patient population and continued medical advances.
Providing patients with convenient access to our state-of-the-art specialized urology services in a number of regional locations is at the heart of our approach. At every level, we are expanding our commitment to providing compassionate, relationship-based care to ensure an exceptional experience for our patients.
Through six new centers of excellence, UH Urology Institute is more strongly integrating services around patient needs and diagnosis to provide individuals with a much more comprehensive and personalized approach to meeting their urological health care needs.
We are excited to introduce the centers for: Female Pelvic Medicine & Surgery, Chronic Pelvic Pain, Robotic & Minimally Invasive Surgery, Urologic Oncology, Pediatric Urology and Men’s Health and Stones. Every center contains clinics for specific patient problems, such as bladder and pelvic pain, to facilitate patient access. In addition, centers for Research and Innovation, and Quality and Outcomes have been created to promote the needed infrastructure for integration of new knowledge regarding patient care.
The centers provide a vehicle for greater physician collaboration across multiple specialties, such as oncology, neurology, radiology, gastroenterology and gynecology --aligning our efforts to provide patients with state-of-the-art urology services, from the most basic to the most complex.
Throughout the centers, teams of highly skilled physicians from multiple specialties and departments meet weekly to discuss specific cases, pose scientific queries and share information on best practices and ongoing or potential research initiatives --powerfully generating new ideas and potentially more advanced treatment options, in addition to promoting a greater understanding of urologic conditions.
To better meet future urology needs, we are also expanding our specialized medical training, with plans to add new fellowships in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, urology oncology, minimally invasive surgery and pediatric urology, among others.
Our efforts will allow us to thrive as more patients seek treatment in the years ahead.
We continue building upon our long-standing history of advancing even the most leading-edge clinical practices through research and innovation. Our connection with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, an intellectual reservoir and one of the most successful research centers in the country, magnifies our potential.
In all that we do, we remain firmly committed to providing our patients with access to the latest medical advances, improved clinical outcomes and new strategies for disease prevention.
It is our sincere privilege to serve the individuals and families who seek our care.
