The Division of Pediatric Surgery provides 24-hour coverage for elective and emergency general surgical needs of children from birth to 21 years of age.

Comprehensive Services Include

  • Common pediatric surgical problems, such as appendicitis, intussusception, pyloric stenosis, hernias, hydroceles and undescended testes
  • Congenital malformations, such as diaphragmatic hernia, esophageal, intestinal and biliary atresias, omphalocele, gastroschisis, volvulus, Hirschsprung's disease, and congenital anomalies of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, and ano-rectal tract; chest deformities and unusual mediastinal problems, and select lesions of the urogenital tract and musculoskeletal system
  • Major trauma
  • Solid tumors, benign and malignant, including Wilms' tumor, neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, teratomas, lymphomas and others of head and neck, abdomen, and non-cardiac lesions of the chest
  • Endoscopy of the respiratory, GI and GU systems for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including foreign body extraction
  • Endocrine and intersex problems, including unusual gynecologic problems
  • Taproscopic thoracoscopy and laser procedures
