Q: How can I tell if my child's injury requires medical attention?
A: If your child is injured and shows any of the symptoms listed below, call us for an appointment at 216-983-SPORT.
We can help you decide whether the injury requires medical attention.
- Significant swelling, persistent swelling or soreness
- Pain or discomfort that is clearly affecting performance or ability
- Soreness or pain that lasts more than a few days
- Persistent back pain that restricts activities or interrupts sleep
- Any reduced range of motion
- Any pain that results in limping or an inability to walk
- Inability to open and close their fingers or move their toes
- Numbness in any part of the body
- If their head, neck or back appears to be in an odd position.
Q: What are the various names used for the conditions you treat?
A: Sprains, strains, fractures, overuse injuries, Osgood-Schlatter disease (inflammation of the growth plate just below the knee), tendonitis, ligament injuries, and concussions.
Q: Should I see an orthopedic surgeon for the problem?
A: While most sports injuries don’t require surgery, our staff works closely with the orthopedic surgeons of Rainbow Babies and can refer you if necessary.
Q: How should I treat a sports injury initially?
A: Your quick action may prevent the injury from becoming worse. When an injury occurs, quickly “PRICE” it!
