“Parkinson’s is generally a degenerative disease of nerve cells,” said University Hospitals neurologist Dr. Benjamin Walter. “There are many different kinds of Parkinson’s, but it’s characterized by a loss in the body’s ability to produce dopamine, a chemical that’s important in many areas. Even in animal studies, energetic physical exercise increases growth factors in brain cells.”
