Remodeled in 2008, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at University Hospitals Richmond Medical Center, A Campus of UH Regional Hospitals is an 8 bed unit, where due to specific medical or surgical conditions, patients receive intensive nursing and medical care. All patients on the ICU are attached to monitoring equipment that records a combination of pulse, heart rhythm, blood pressure and blood oxygen levels.

The ICU is staffed with a combination of RNs, LPNs and a unit secretary. Other staff members include doctors and medical students, physical therapists (who help with mobility), respiratory therapists (who help with breathing and oxygen needs), social workers, a dietitian, environmental services employees and nutrition services staff. All care for patients on the ICU is directed by an RN.
