Stroke Support Group

L.I.F.E. is an acronym for Living for Independence with the Freedoms of Equality. This program was created to enhance the lives of stroke patients and their families by offering resources, support and education through University Hospitals.

Patients and their families must address a number of issues about recovery and care after experiencing a stroke. We give vital support and provide participants with coping strategies, recreation opportunities, fellowship and mutual help and understanding.

The goals of L.I.F.E. are:

  • To improve stroke recovery
  • To offer educational and adaptive equipment and resources
  • To provide community assistance and opportunities to socialize in a therapeutic recreation environment
