For patients with lung disease, breathing without effort is often impossible. Sometimes lung disease can be so severe that it affects your independence - even your quality of life. That’s why the broad-based inpatient and outpatient services offered by the Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine division can provide you a breath of hope. Here, we diagnose and treat medical conditions of the lungs, including asthma, emphysema, sleep disorders, interstitial lung diseases (any number of lung diseases in which the accumulation of cells or noncellular material gather within the lungs’ air sacs and interfere with normal breathing) and pneumonia. In addition, we provide comprehensive care for lung transplant and lung cancer patients, and individuals with pulmonary vascular disease. Our goal is to give you the support and education that will help you live as comfortably and independently as possible. This division also manages the Medical Intensive Care Unit at University Hospitals Case Medical Center.
