UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute’s Women’s Cardiovascular Center focuses on the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, the leading cause of death of women in the United States.

Women's Cardiovascular Center

Women's Cardiovascular Center offers expertise in cardiovascular issues unique to women.

Our highly trained physicians combine expertise in diverse subspecialties to address the issues inherent in women’s cardiovascular health, using age- and gender-specific diagnostic and treatment programs that take into account the different nature of disease in women, as well as such potentially complicating factors as pregnancy, breast cancer and menopause.

We work in close collaboration with University Hospitals MacDonald Women’s Hospital, the only hospital in Ohio devoted solely to women’s health.

As the local presenting sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign, one of our core missions is to present community outreach programs to educate women about the signs and symptoms of heart disease and to encourage early detection and preventive lifestyle modifications to control risk factors.

In addition to preventative care, the Women’s Cardiovascular Center offers diagnostic evaluation and treatment for women with known heart disease. We offer specialized cardiovascular medicine for the treatment of coronary artery and valvular disease, chest pain associated with anxiety disorders or depression, angina secondary to coronary vasospasm, arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, hypertensive heart disease, difficult to control cholesterol disease and peripheral arterial disease.

We work closely with each patient’s primary care physician, communicating our evaluation and recommendations.
