Recent research within our division includes:
- NCAA Division III endurance athlete fatigue questionnaire and association with low ferritin levels and anemia.
- Pre- and post-concussion neuropsychological changes in high school athletes, a comparison between genders.
- A longitudinal study of gymnasts and association between growth, flexibility, and injury.
- Parental perceptions of youth sports pressures.
Grant funding is available, by application, through the Department of Pediatrics FRAP awards. All fellows complete a research course as part of their two-year fellowship. A full-time statistician is available to assist in fellows in data analysis.
Our faculty is very active in academic endeavors. They routinely publish in medical journals and write book chapters. Dr. Briskin and Dr. Weiss Kelly are involved at the national level with the AAP Committee on Sports Medicine and Fitness (COSMF), AMSSM, and ACSM.
