Designed for Our Residents and Their Needs
Every aspect of The Dolan has been carefully designed from the viewpoint of our residents for safety and a feeling of security. Our therapeutic programming is woven into daily activities with every detail taken into account.
Outside, you’ll notice that The Dolan is a free-standing facility that provides a safe, secure environment in a park-like setting. Beautiful therapeutic gardens are part of our setting, and lush wooded grounds provide a backdrop that is lovely all year ‘round.
Inside, The Dolan Center offers companionship, security and compassionate care with a sense of spirit and vitality. Individualized, personal care is provided to residents in all stages of dementia, and all residents enjoy these amenities at the Dolan:
- Private studio apartments that are furnished with a resident’s own belongings.
- Memory cases at each apartment door to tell their life story and help identify which apartment is theirs.
- Walkways that assist our residents in walking throughout their neighborhood while being given reassurance that they are not lost.
- Other visual cues to keep a resident from feeling disoriented, to help a resident feel centered.
- Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired architecture that is soothing and stimulating. It incorporates numerous windows and skylights, providing natural light with scenic views of the therapeutic gardens and the wooded grounds.
- The Atrium, providing a serene setting with a large aquarium and large glass windows overlooking the Therapeutic Gardens.
- The Gathering Room, the location for musical groups, entertainment, movies, intergenerational activities,
drum table and religious services.
- The Dining Room, the heart of The Dolan. Meals are prepared and served restaurant-style under the direction of our chef.
- The Therapeutic Kitchen, staffed by our residents, where they may prepare their favorite family recipes in familiar surroundings.
- The Snoezelen Room, a multi-sensory room incorporating lights, sound, visual equipment, tactile materials and aromas, all focused on helping an anxious resident relax or stimulate the mind without the use of medications.
- The Reminiscent Room, for memory activities, focusing on the strength of the resident -- long-term memory.
