The Primary Care Institute at UH Geauga Medical Center is preparing for the upcoming 2009 flu season and is currently conducting education events to help teach you of ways to protect your family and what to do in case your loved one becomes sick.

The “Preparing for the 2009 Flu Season” educational seminar is designed for adults and high school age students, and will cover the following topics:

• What is the flu and how is it different from the common cold?
• What are the differences between the symptoms and treatment options for Seasonal Flu vs H1N1 Influenza (aka The Swine Flu)?
• How is the flu spread?
• How can you protect yourself and your family?
• What should you do if you or someone you love gets sick?
• When will the flu vaccinations (shots) be available, who is encouraged to get the vaccine, and are they safe?

Please join us at one of educational seminars held in Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, or Portage Counties. The seminar will be presented by a UH Geauga Medical Center Primary Care Institute physician and will last approximately 1 hr.

University Hospitals Concord Health Center is conveniently located off of I-90 and Route 44 in Concord Township. This facility provides a wide range of services for adults and children including primary care cardiovascular medicine, internal medicine, endocrinology, family medicine, laboratory, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics/spine, pediatrics, radiology, rheumatology, urology and vascular surgery.

One of the more unique aspects of this new health center is that the services offered will be closely aligned with the services at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. The collaboration between the two facilities will help UH Geauga further enhance patient care in Lake and Geauga Counties.
