Many celebrate the St. Patrick’s holiday by attending Cleveland’s traditional Annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. Several employees from Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital celebrated St. Patty’s Day (a.k.a. St. Baldrick’s Day) by shaving their heads to raise money for childhood cancer.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is an incredible organization that shares Rainbow’s goal in fighting and beating childhood cancer and on Monday, March 17, 2008 one hundred men and women received a stylish new haircut at A.J. Rocco’s in downtown Cleveland.
From Rainbow’s hematology-oncology division John Letterio, M.D., Chad Jacobsen, M.D., Brian Berman, M.D., Sante Ghetti, and Leslee Seeman participated in the festivities by shaving their heads. As of the date of this publication the Cleveland group, led by Mr. Peter Richer, had raised over $135,000 and more is expected to come!
St. Baldrick’s was founded in 1999 by three gentlemen in the reinsurance business. They transformed their industry’s St. Patrick’s Day party into a benefit for children with cancer. The foundation has raised more than $34 million to date with similar functions taking place nationwide.
Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital is proud of the partnership it has formed with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and looks forward to a long, healthy relationship in the future.
