Epilepsy Testing
Our goal is to eliminate or control your child’s seizures and how we get to that point is important. We recognize that it is also important for parents and patients to understand what is going on each step of the way.
There are many assessment tools and services that we use to help move us in the right direction, here are some of them:
Evaluation by an experienced pediatric epilepsy neurologist from the Pediatric Neurology Division, who typically conduct over 13,000 clinic visits per year.
Monitoring in a specially designed kid-friendly unit using Video-EEG. The video EEG allows us to see what’s happening inside your child’s head in a non-invasive way. The unit provides 24 hour staffing by pediatric nurses, monitoring technicians, and Child Life Specialists. This allows a trained professional to be always nearby, providing the security of knowing that your child is never alone, and it offers a Child Life Specialist that can help prepare you and your child for their hospital experience. br>

Specialized Neuroimaging such as: High Resolution Magnetic Resonance Imaging, PET Scans, and SPECT scans using SISCOM. These highly advanced tests help us to identify areas of concern that may go undetected by less thorough tools.
For the absolute best care in every possible circumstance we use a team approach with evaluations by pediatric specialists in neurology, neuropsychology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, neuropathology, nursing, anesthesiology, critical care medicine, physical/occupational/speech therapy, and Child Life.
