A “Rapid Response Team” (RRT) is a designated group of clinicians that brings immediate critical care expertise to a patient’s bedside. Formed in 2005, the UH Richmond Medical Center RRT is on call 24 hours a day. The team’s physicians, nurses and therapists are called into action to medically intervene on a patient’s behalf outside of an Intensive Care setting.
The integrated performance of our Rapid Response Team has resulted in a significant decrease in cardiac arrests, as well as in the overall mortality rate at our hospital. It has also enabled UH Richmond Medical Center to become one of only three hospitals in Ohio (and one of only 70 in the US) named as a “5 Million Lives Campaign” Mentor Hospital by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, a non-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement of quality health care throughout the world.
