Becoming a Volunteer

Step 1 – Complete Teen Scene Application

Complete an application, mail it, fax it, e-mail, or drop it off at the Volunteer Services Department. Provide your guidance counselor with the evaluation form. If a school guidance counselor is unavailable to complete the evaluation you may have it completed by an advisor from an organization to which you belong (e.g., religious, community). You will be contacted for an interview once the evaluation and application, including questions, are received.

Step 2 – Interview

You will need to have one interview with the Volunteer Services Department and possibly one with the department supervisor where you will volunteer. The purpose of the interview is to provide you information about our program, assess your interests, enthusiasm, communication skills and determine if a placement is appropriate.

Step 3 – Health Screening

Hospital policy requires all employees and volunteers have a PPD/Tuberculosis test which will be provided by the hospital at no cost.

Step 4 – Volunteer Orientation

All volunteers must complete an orientation. General orientation sessions are offered days, evenings and weekends. Individuals wishing to volunteer in University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital must attend a special orientation.
