University Hospitals Celebrates New Concord Health Center with Community Open House; Third Completed Building Project in UH’s Vision 2010 Plan

University Hospitals Concord Health Center will hold its grand opening and community open house on Tuesday, July 14, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., to celebrate the opening of its new, state-of-the-art outpatient health center in Concord Township.  The UH Concord Health Center, which is the third completed building project of UH’s Vision 2010 strategic plan, is located at 7500 Auburn Road off Route 44 and I-90.

At the open house, UH will offer free health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, blood type, body mass index for children, heel bone density, and cholesterol.  Visitors also will enjoy refreshments, give-aways, and tours of the facility.

“The UH Concord Health Center allows us to better serve the growing needs of the Concord community and its surrounding region,” said Achilles Demetriou, MD, PhD, President, University Hospitals.  “This opening is the third of several major building projects in the health system’s Vision 2010 strategic plan, including the UH Twinsburg Health Center, and the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. Our Vision 2010 plan is the largest expansion in University Hospitals’ history. This is a very exciting time for our health system.”

The 61,000-square-foot ambulatory health center sits on a large parcel of land highly visible from I-90 in Concord and is easily accessible from the highly traveled Route 44 interchange.

The UH Concord Health Center features the latest in medical technology for diagnostic and outpatient primary and specialty physician services, as well as an urgent care center.  The outpatient center’s primary and specialty care physicians offer services to meet an entire family’s medical needs, including cardiovascular medicine, internal medicine, endocrinology, family medicine, laboratory, neurology, obstetrics & gynecology, orthopaedics/ spine, otolaryngology, pediatrics, radiology, rheumatology, urology and vascular surgery.

“One of the more unique aspects of this new health center is that the services offered will be closely aligned with the services at our community hospital in Geauga - the University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center,” said Richard J. Frenchie, President of UH Geauga Medical Center. “The collaboration between the two facilities will help us to further enhance patient care in Lake and Geauga Counties.”

Michael Nochomovitz, M.D., President and Chief Medical Officer, University Hospitals Medical Practices, said, “ We are very excited about moving into the Concord community and are pleased to bring University Hospitals’ quality care to the communities of Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties.”

The UH Concord Health Center is a significant project in UH’s Vision 2010 strategic plan.  Other building projects include the UH Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood at Chagrin Highlands, a Cancer Hospital and Center for Emergency Medicine at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, and the newly opened Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.
