CLEVELAND – In the coming months, residents of Medina County will find they have significantly enhanced outpatient medical services at two locations supported by the expertise of University Hospitals physicians and services.
University Hospitals (UH) will transform the Waterford Office Park, 4000 Carrick Place, into the UH Medina Health Center by the end of the year.
Plans for the UH Medina Health Center are to consolidate UH physician practices already in the area and to cover internal medicine, pediatrics, family medicine, urgent care, as well as advanced laboratory and radiology services. In addition, the health center will feature specialty services from UH Centers of Excellence -- Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and Harrington-McLaughlin Heart & Vascular Institute. The facility will include an urgent care center with corporate health services.
Also enhancing outpatient services in Medina will be the joining of the well known group of Sharon Family Physicians, located at 5133 Ridge Rd., Sharon Center, Ohio, to the University Hospitals Medical Practices (UHMP), the physician medical organization of University Hospitals system. This preeminent group of five family medicine physicians includes Todd Zeiger, M.D., Sean Hoynes, M.D.,
David J. Dulle, M.D., Tyra L. Moné, M.D., and Crystal Shaffer, M.D.
An additional 11,000 sq. ft. expansion of this practice site is planned which will include diagnostic and specialty services, including sports medicine and surgery.
Dr. Zeiger of the Sharon practice said, “Joining University Hospitals Medical Practices will enable us to improve our practice by adopting electronic prescribing, digital patient charting, and significantly expanding the range of specialty services offered on site. The ultimate satisfaction is the impact these additions provide for our patients’ benefit.”
The new UH Medina Health Center and the UH Sharon Family Physicians, each located along Route 18 in Medina, near I-71 and I-77, will serve both the eastern and western residents of the county.
“At University Hospitals, we are working to better meet the medical needs of Medina residents by bringing the most frequently needed outpatient services closer to their homes and making them more convenient,” said Achilles Demetriou, M.D., president of University Hospitals. “We are privileged to have at the core of these services some of the best known physicians in Medina who will be augmented by specialists from University Hospitals.”
