Bahman Guyuron, MD, FACS, Appointed Chief of Plastic Surgery

CLEVELAND -- Following a national search, Bahman Guyuron, MD, FACS, has been appointed Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at University Hospitals of Cleveland. A renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Guyuron brings a wealth of experience to the helm of the UHC plastic surgery division.

 "Dr. Guyuron is a pioneer in the plastic surgery field who has an established international reputation because of his clinical expertise," says Fred C. Rothstein, MD, President and CEO of University Hospitals of Cleveland. "I look forward to Dr. Guyuron’s leadership in strengthening our academic program and expanding our clinical plastic surgery expertise."

 Dr. Guyuron has attracted international attention for his studies of the use of surgery to treat migraine headaches. He has published over 140 articles in peer-reviewed journals, over 30 book chapters, and 2 textbooks. Additionally, Dr. Guyuron has been intimately involved in the education of plastic surgery through his participation in over 700 presentations at regional, national and international conferences. 

 "In partnership with my plastic surgery colleagues at University Hospitals of Cleveland and with the recruitment of additional distinguished plastic surgeons, I plan to expand our center for excellence in plastic surgery," says Dr. Guyuron, who currently serves as Clinical Professor of Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. "We will build on the foundation of plastic surgery research and education that I have established during the last 25 years and provide cutting-edge plastic surgery services."

 A member of numerous professional organizations, Dr. Guyuron currently serves as a director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Guyuron is Past President of the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, The Rhinoplasty Society, Ohio Valley Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and Northeast Ohio Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He is a Trustee of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, Plastic Surgery Education Foundation, Plastic Surgery Endowment Fund and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. 

 Dr. Guyuron has been the Medical Director of Zeeba Surgery Center in Lyndhurst, Ohio, since 1997. Previously, he was Chief of the Division Plastic Surgery at the former Mt. Sinai Medical Center and Director of the Section of Craniofacial Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

 Dr. Guyuron is a graduate of Tehran University Medical School. He completed a residency in general surgery at Boston University in 1978 and a residency in plastic surgery at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1980. Dr. Guyuron also completed a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at Toronto University Hospital for Sick Children in 1980. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
