About

Dr. Allison Schroeder, MD, CAQSM specializes in non-surgical Sports Medicine and diagnostic and interventional Sport Ultrasound. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Schroeder attended the University of Notre Dame where she majored in Biological Science with a minor in Science, Technology, and Values and graduated magna cum laude. She competed on the varsity track and field team for the Fighting Irish. She earned her medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in Pittsburgh, PA where she served as chief resident. Dr. Schroeder completed her Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic Square in Minneapolis, MN where she assisted with care of the Minnesota Lynx, Minnesota Twins, and North Central University Athletes and further developed her skills in diagnostic and interventional sports ultrasound. Prior to joining the faculty at University Hospitals, she returned to Pittsburgh and served as the Assistant Program Director for the PM&R Sports Medicine Fellowship and team physician for Penn Hills High School and the Duquesne University Women’s Lacrosse team.

Dr. Schroeder is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. She is a participating in the International Olympic Committee Diploma in Sports Medicine Program. In 2021, Dr. Schroeder was awarded the Association of Academic Physiatrist’s prestigious McLean Outstanding Resident/Fellow Award. She is a member of several national organizations, including the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP), and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R). Dr. Schroeder serves on several committees within these organizations and lectures nationally on sports ultrasound, non-surgical sports medicine, and running / endurance medicine.

Dr. Schroeder is passionate about returning patients to an active lifestyle, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and exploring ways to optimize clinical care and education through research. She provides comprehensive evaluations and integrates the use of diagnostic ultrasound into her clinical practice (including performing orthobiologic injections, such as platelet rich plasma, and advanced ultrasound-guided procedures). As a runner herself, she is passionate about the care of female athletes and runners. Her research interests include diagnostic and interventional sports ultrasound, resident and fellow education, orthobiologics, and running and endurance medicine. She has authored multiple scientific publications and book chapters. In her free time, she enjoys running in the Cleveland Metroparks, watching sports (especially Notre Dame football and Cleveland Cavaliers / Browns / Guardians), traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Her husband, Ken, is a native of Cleveland, and they are excited to call Northeast Ohio home.

Dr Schroeder was excellent and showed great concern for my problem. Sent me for blood and clot tests. Immediately called me with results and prescribed a prescription for me cause my primary was on vacation.

Dr. Schroeder is amazing. She relates very well to her patients, especially *** (17 year old). She's quick to get us in when *** has a sports injury. She's thorough and really cares about the wellbeing of ***. The UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine facility is unbelieveable!!!! Definitely state-of-the-art. We are grateful.

The doctor was amazing !!!! She listened - explained and provided the necessary injection for my trigger finger. The issue I have with UH is when I need to make an appointment. It is MOST IRRITATING !!!!! Yes I would be happy to talk to someone about it !!
